I also beh tahan!!

Sometimes I really beh tahan myself. How do I expect someone, especially LKC to tahan me!!?? Hmm...sigh.
LKC went to the Empire Tower at Jalan Ampang again this afternoon to meet his customer there. So as usual, he waited for me at The Lawn at Suria KLCC to finish my work. We planned to drive back to Ipoh right after work, but the weather did not allow us to do so. It was raining like cats and dogs in the evening. So we walked around KLCC and LKC's "generous mode" was "triggered" this evening.
He said, it's the month end again. That means it's time to withdraw money from the fat guy who borrowed money from him few months back and paying back in installment. He planned to spend RM500, 50% from what he withdrawn, for me to go shopping today. Of course I was like a happy birdie when I heard that.
Anyway, we walked around KLCC and saw a lot of people in the Coach shop, somemore got 2 security guards standing at the entrance. We went in there and only found out that there was actually a sales going on. I walked around the shop and saw a sling bag which was very nice. Only RM490 after 30% discount. Then walked around again and saw the handbags which I eyed on before. Remember one of the entry I wrote about the Coach handbags? Read here. These handbags all got 30% discount also. There is one handbag which was selling at RM1225 before is only RM858 after 30% discount. Urrgghhh...at first I had the urge of getting the sling bag, since it's only RM490. It is so much cheaper than the DKNY sling bag that I'm having now, but the bag is very nice.
Handbag or sling bag?? Handbag or sling bag? Handbag is RM858. Sling bag is RM490. I was holding both and standing in front of the mirror and posing with the bags. LKC even told the sales girl that I couldn't make up my mind and asked her to give me some suggestion.
At the end I couldn't make up my mind and just left the shop empty handed. Sigh...I'm such a useless @$$. Everytime when I wanted to buy something, I bugged LKC to dead but I never got it as LKC wasn't in "generous mode". When LKC is in "generous mode", I become very calculative. Seeing every cents and ringgits as if a very big deal. I also don't understand why I behave like that. When LKC refuses to buy me the things that I ask, I complain and complain and complain. But when he is willing to get it for me, I'm not in the mood of getting it. How to tahan lah with this type of girlfriend?
Since we have plan of getting an apartment end of this year, I have always been thinking on how to decorate my home. Every design that I thought of is not anything simple. Not simple equals to not cheap!! Everything requires money, money and money!! If I'd bought the handbag, RM850 will be gone. With this RM850, I can actually buy a better mattress, or buy a nice glass dining table, or a tumble dryer, or spending few more hundreds to get a spacious refrigerator. All these require money!! Sigh.
Lately, I have been reminding myself everytime I take out my purse. Is this thing necessary to buy? Do I need it? Aiyah...don't simply waste the money lah!! I've been very careful when spending my money nowadays. Aiii...what to do. Need to save money to own our dreamhouse. LKC and I are both working very hard to make our dreams come true. LKC is working very hard to earn extra money, while I am trying very hard to save my money. Hopefully with all this sacrifice that we made, we're able to get what we hope for at the end.

Daidomon Charcoal Barbeque Japanese Restaurant

LKC visited a customer at Bank of China at Jalan Ampang on last Thursday. So he dropped me at KLCC before heading to the customer's site in the morning and waited for me to finish work at KLCC. Since both of us were at the KL city, we would often take the opportunity to check out something that can only be found in KL, but not in PJ.

Earlier, we wanted to go to the Korea Village at Ampang there since it was quite some time since our last Korean meal. Later only I remember about the Daidomon Charcoal Barbeque Japanese Restaurant @ Great Eastern Mall @ Jalan Ampang, which I saw on The Sun about a month ago. What really attracted us was the Wagyu Beef that they serve. We really wanted to try this Wagyu beef long long time ago, but it was too expensive. We saw a restaurant a Pavillion (forgot the name) that serve Wagyu beef as well but they are selling it at around RM200 per 100 gram. Wow...wow...wow.
Ok, back to Daidomon. They claim that "DAIDOMON is the only one Japanese Yakiniku Restaurant that sells the highes grade of Wagyu Beef in Malaysia". Hmm...sounds very interesting and very attractive too.
They were having some promotion on the Washoku & Yakiniku Buffet. The usual price for an adult is RM99 but it's only at RM68 per pax. We opted for this buffet and at first planned to order the wagyu beef as an ala-carte.

Well, this buffet style was more like an ala-carte style whereby you do not need to go out to get your food. You'll be given a menu and you just have to order the food that you would like and the food will be served to you shortly. You can "eat-all-you-can" but please bear in mind that any leftover will be charged RM20 per 100 gram.

Lets find out what we had...
Photobucket
Salmon sashimi
F-R-E-S-H!!
Photobucket
Kimuchi Moriawase
Consist of Kimuchi (spicy chinese cabbage pickle), Kakuteki (spicy radish pickle) and Oikimuchi (Japanese cucumber pickle). Not a big fan of Kakuteki, the other two pickles were tasted quite okay.
Photobucket
Tori Kara Age - Deep fried boneless chicken
The tori kara age was still burning hot and it was not just boneless, it was 'fatless' too!!
Photobucket
Ebi Tempura - Deep Fried Prawns
I didn't try this, LKC had it all. LKC said that the Ebi Tempura was "hou-hou mei arr!!".
Photobucket
California Maki

For the BBQ, we ordered different parts of beef...something very interesting.
Photobucket
Tan - Tongue
Cruncy. Never thought it would be so crunchy. What a surprise!
Photobucket
Karubi - Belly Tender
Tasted so-so only. But it was one of the highly recommended by the waitress.
Photobucket
Honetsuki Karubi - Belly Tender with Ribs
Not bad also. But nothing much special. LKC didn't really like it.
Photobucket
Horumon - Large Intestine
I'm not a big fan of internal organ. LKC had it all and he loves it very much.
Photobucket
Rosu - Striploin
Photobucket
Hotate - Scallop
Fresh and very delicious!
Photobucket
Kaki Butter - Oyster Meat with Butter
Not a big fan of oyster either. LKC had it all too. He said it was fresh too.
Photobucket
Sausage Moriawase - Assorted sausages
Consist of Gyu Niku Sausage (beef sausage), Tori Niku Sausage (chicken sausage), Tori Niniku Sausage (chicken garlic sausage), Tori Shiitake Sausage (chicken mushroom sausage)
It was a very huge portion but overall the sausages tasted very good especially the Gyu Niku Sausage. Do not order this unless you have a very big stomach!
Photobucket
Shiitake Mushroom
Again, I forgot to take a picture of this shiitake mushroom. The best shiitake mushroom could be found in Daidomon. Tried at Ichiban Boshi and Sushi Zanmai, but Daidomon deserves to be crowned serving the best shiitake mushroom. If you can see it clearly, there was some red sauce on top of the mushroom. I think this special red sauce was the trick to this wonderful shiitake mushroom.

House Pour Sake - Hot Sake 350ml (RM50.00)

Food: 4 out of 5
Huge variety of choices. The buffet menu itself is already more than enough. If you do not feel like taking the buffet, then you may opt for the ala-carte. Check out the main menu here! All the meat and seafood served were very fresh.
Beverage: 3 out of 5
Complimentary green tea. Additionally we ordered the House Pour Sake, which was served hot. Personally, I do not find this sake nice. I still prefer the Hefe-Weiβbier Dunkel found in Bavarian Bierhaus German Restaurant & Bar.
Environment: 3 out of 5
Located at one of the busiest street in KL, it could be a hassle to visit this restaurant. Anyhow, it was quite easy to find parking and the parking rate wasn't expensive. The ambiance of this restaurant was very cosy. Though it is a BBQ restaurant, you will not sense any charcoal smell like any other BBQ restaurants.
Service: 4 out of 5
The waitress was very attentive and recommended us different type of meat to try for the barbeque. The plates were collected right away and they even helped to "control" the BBQ fire.
Price: 4 out of 5
The buffet that we had was indeed very worthy. Don't talk about the ala-carte menu, but judging from the varieties of the buffet menu, I think we actually had more than what we paid. I'm not sure how long the promotion will last, so try it yourself before the promotion ends.

Highly recommended to go if you're a beef lover like us! We still didn't manage to try the wagyu beef!! Must go and try the wagyu beef on our next visit.

Newly opened...Sushi Zanmai @ 1-Utama
Sushi Zanmai has finally opened an outlet at 1-Utama after Sunway Pyramid and The Gardens. After trying out the Pasta Zanmai, which is located at the lower ground floor of 1-Utama, we were very eager to try out this newly opened outlet at 1-Utama.

Open kitchen concept

Lets check out what we had...

Photobucket
Soft shell crab maki (RM6.00)
Soft shell crab has always been one of our favourite and a must-to-order food everytime we visit a Japanese restaurant. This soft shell crab maki tasted very good and the soft shell crab was still very crispy. The portion was quite small but very worth the price.
Photobucket
[Clockwise from top left] - Black caviar (RM3.80), Kani corn (RM1.60), Toro sushi (RM15.00), Salmon sushi (RM3.80)
Black caviar - It was our first time trying this black caviar and I thought it would have some weird taste as I saw the angmoh eating it in Fear Factor and they were "yeewww...uuhh". In fact, it didn't taste anything. Just like normal fish roe.
Kani corn - Nothing much special on this. It was only RM1.60, so worth the price.
Toro sushi - Special credit needs to be given to this wonderful sushi. This tuna belly was absolutely delicious and it was really worth the price. We can truely understand the Chinese saying "yup hau jik yung" (melt in the mouth) after tasting this wonderful toro. We ordered another two pieces of this toro sushi to satisfy our taste buds.
Salmon sushi - I didn't take this but according to LKC the salmon was very fresh.
Photobucket
Surumeika Sugatayaki (RM15.00)
This is LKC's favourite. We had it at Pasta Zanmai before. The squid was server together with grinded ginger a piece of lemon.
Photobucket
Hotate mentaiyaki (RM12.80)
This is scallop grilled with cod roe. The scallop was big and was very fresh. It tasted very nice but quite expensive though.
Photobucket
Sukiyaki (RM15.80)
Photobucket
Photobucket
Another one of our favourite. The soy soup base was very "sukiyaki" taste and the beef serving was very generous too.

We ordered the Shiitake mushroom (RM3.80) but was too busy with the food and forgot to take a picture of it. The Shittake mushroom tasted so-so only. Will blog on the nicest Shiitake mushroom that I ever had on my next post. Stay tuned.

Food: 4 out of 5
All the food that we ordered tasted very good and very worth the money except for the Hotate mentaiyaki, which was a bit too expensive for just a small scallop. They have a large variety of food, from sashimi to sushi, from sukiyaki to bento. The food quality is way better than Genki Sushi or Sushi King.
Beverage: 2.5 out of 5
The beverages variety was not as large as what they have in Pasta Zanmai. We had bottomless green tea, so there is nothing much to comment on this.
Environment: 3.5 out of 5
Located in the least expected place for a restaurant, LKC complaint that it was rather hot. However, the beauty of this place was its open kitchen concept. If you enjoy self-service, you can choose the kaiten belt area. If you prefer to be served, then you can choose to sit at ala-carte area.
Service: 3 out of 5
Service was quite okay. The waiters/ waitresses were very attentive. Maybe the restaurant drew a large crowd because of its grand opening. Therefore the service was rather slow.
Price: 3 out of 5
Judging by the quality of the food that we had, it was worthy to pay such an expensive price. Our bill came out to be around RM110 but we were very satisfied with the meal especially the toro sushi. Btw, they are having 1st anniversary celebration from 2nd - 31st May 2008, where you will be entitled to get a RM20 rebate Sushi Zanmai voucher for every RM100 spent. So go and grab it before its' too late.
