Our flight to Bali was scheduled to depart at 10:25 and arrived at Ngurah Rai Airport at 13:25. Since we were flying on AirAsia --> famous for delay, our flight was delayed for 30 minutes and only arrived at Bali at around 14:00. Upon arriving at the airport, we were greeted by the local tour guide, Wayan. Next, we headed to Casa Padma Hotel for check-in.

After checking-in, we headed for lunch at Indo-National Bar & Restaurant and ordered some not so delicious local food, eg, nasi goreng babi and mixed satay. LKC ordered Bali Cooler - Lime which was quite nice.

After satisfying our hunger, we walked along Jalan Padma towards the Kuta Beach. Since LKC's boss's gf, Seah Nee, forgot to bring her sandals, LKC's boss, Sze Wei, strolled along the sandy beach with her. While playful LKC and I headed straight to the sea. Naughty LKC disturbed the poor baby crab by digging the baby crab out from the sand again and again while it was trying very hard to escape. I was busy capturing every moment and at the same time enjoying the beautiful sunset at Kuta Beach.

After playing by the seaside, we walked back to the hotel to get ready for the dinner. Along the way back, we saw a garden wedding ceremony being held at one of the hotel by the seaside. Further down, we saw a flee market and Seah Nee stopped by at the market to get a pair of sandals. Since there is nothing much that attracts me at the market, I just took some photographs before leaving the market. Some interesting souvenirs that we found in the market are "kuku jiau" bottle-opener, punk helmet and etc. Along the way back to the hotel, we managed to see shops selling different items such as bead accessories, paintings, clothes and etc.

We went back to the hotel for quick shower as dinner pick-up was at 18:30. We headed to Hard Rock for buffet dinner. Sounds interesting? Nope, the food there sucks but the ambiance was superb. As usual, after having the dinner, it was photographing time again. Walking around and snapping photos at the Hard Rock Hotel. We stopped by at the Hard Rock Hotel souvenirs shop and LKC bought me a Hard Rock Hotel Shot Glass. After that, we continued to take photos again. I particularly love the swimming pool at the Hard Rock Hotel. The pool was designed to mimic a beach. They even placed sand on a portion of the pool and also a pool-side bar.

It was time for shopping spree after taking photos. We noticed that there were a lot of Polo Ralph Lauren shops. We went in one of the Polo shop and found out that they were imitation goods but the locals claimed that it's original...Indonesia Polo...huh??!! We walked along the street at the Legian there and found out that there were quite a number of branded shops like Versace, Prada, D&G and etc, but you will doubt its "genuine-ty". We stopped at Surfer Girls, both Seah Nee and myself were busy trying out the clothes while the guys waited for us. I bought 2 pieces of t-shirts for 150000 Rupiah (approx RM54).

After the shopping spree, we stopped by at The Wave Bar for a drink. We ordered a jug of Bintang Beer and enjoyed the performance of the in-house band. Spent around 30 minutes at The Wave Bar, we headed back to the hotel by the most primitive form of transport -->the pony cart. The ride cost us 50000 Rupiah after bargain. It was actually more expensive compared to a taxi ride. The ride was worth it as it was a "must-try" for a tourist, like us....but one time is enough as the ride was not comfortable. We were honked by the cars behind as we were too slow and causing traffic jam. The poor pony spitted/vomited when we arrived at the hotel...maybe we were too heavy!!?? or she didn't like us taking her photo!!??

We ended our night at Wayan & Friends Bar & Restaurant, right in-front of our hotel for supper. We ordered a bottle of white wine, nachos and tacos. We chatted for a while before calling off the day.

Pasta Zanmai

Pasta Zanmai at 1-Utama, next to Carl’s Jr is a Japanese casual pasta restaurant. Instead of serving the common yet famous Japanese food like sushi, sashimi, teppanyaki, etc, this restaurant serves pasta instead as the name suggests. It’s kinda hard to spot this restaurant as it is hidden behind Shojikiya’s Japanese foodstuff. The ambience of this restaurant is not bad though the place is quite small. One thing that I like the most is their kitchen. They have an open kitchen concept at the back of the restaurant, allowing you to observe the chef-in-action.

There is a wide selection of pasta to choose from their gigantic menu. LKC ordered “hamburg to Kinoko no meat sauce” set while I ordered the ala carte “asari to kinoko no cream sauce”. It costs RM3 extra for the set which comes with a bowl of miso soup and a salad. We also ordered “Surumeika Sugatayaki” as a side dish. As for the drink, we had a pot of green tea which is refillable and just nice for the two of us.

Asari to Kinoko no Cream Sauce

Ever tried eating pasta with chopsticks?

I had the Asari to Kinoko no Cream Sauce which is short-neck clam and Japanese Mushroom Cream Sauce Pasta. The clams were quite fresh but they did not clean it properly leaving some mud on the clam. The serving was quite huge with a lot of Japanese mushroom and clams. The cheese was only grated when the pasta was served. This ala-carte meal costs RM25, which was a bit pricey but judging the quality of the food, it is worth giving a try.

This is the set meal that LKC ordered. The Hamburg to Kinoko no Meat Sauce set, which costs RM25. The set meal came with a bowl of miso soup and a salad. The pasta was served with the tomato meat sauce, Japanese mushroom and a piece of hamburger meat (it tasted like the Ramly Burger).

Surumeika Sugatayaki

The Surumeika Sugatayaki is grilled "Surume" squid. The squid is served with grinded ginger and a piece of lemon. Squeeze the lemon juice on top of the squid to remove the "fishy" smell of the squid and the squid is ready to be eaten. Both LKC and myself prefer to have it without the grinded ginger as the ginger does not really match with the squid. The grilled sotong costs RM15 per piece which is quite reasonable.

They also serve a wide selection of desserts and beverages. Some special ones are green tea latte, black sesame ice-cream, ichigo ice, strawberry parfait and etc. We did not manage to order the tempting desserts as we were too full with the meal that we had.

Another year has gone...

Well, as usual...we never got a chance to celebrate Valentine's Day, AGAIN, this year. LKC is back to KL and I'm still in Ipoh enjoying my CNY holiday. Planned earlier to give LKC a surprise on the Valentine's Day. Planned to go back to KL on Thursday to celebrate Valentine's Day with LKC and follow LKC's car back to Ipoh on Friday...but...I was too lazy and sick. I think I've been cursed previously. I've been cursed to fall sick on the 14th February. I'm having flu now...ahhh cheewww...remember the post I previously blogged about? Read here.

Due to my laziness and also my sickness, we ended up no Valentine's Day celebration AGAIN. Last Friday was our 6th year anniversary. Since our anniversary falls on the 2nd day of CNY this year, that meant...no celebration AGAIN! We did went out on that night, but not to those romantic place. Guess where we went? Hahaha...we went to Fook Sing char sat in Ipoh Garden East there instead to have the yummy BBQ lamb and also fried sotong.

After having supper, we went back to LKC's home and *ngek*ngek*ngek*ngek*...don't get misunderstood...we were not doing something naugthy...we played chor tai dee and drank beer...yes, just the 2 of us. I won 3 bucks I think...wahahaha.

That was how we celebrated our 6th Anniversary and Valentine's Day. Well, it doesn't really matter when and how to celebrate the anniversary and the Valentine's Day. What really matters is the love. Everyday can be Valentine's Day and anniversary as long as we love and care each other. Love you heaps, LKC!!!

鱼生 (Yee Sang)

What is CNY without 鱼生 (Yee Sang)? It's one of the must eat food during CNY apart from the kuih kepit, kuih bakul (nin kou), mandarin oranges and etc. It's something that I always crave for even when it is not Chinese New Year.

It's not even Chinese New Year yet, but I've already had lou sang for the 3rd times this year/ last year??!!

I had my first lou sang with LKC's boss and colleagues on last Wednesday at Wong Poh Restaurant at Aman Suria. No picture taken, pai seh lah...LKC's boss always thinks I'm siao-siao one, still want to be "suah gu" in front of him meh!!??

On Saturday, LKC suddenly craved for lou sang again, just like the pregnant woman, suddenly feel like eating something. So I invited Faye, Juvin and Kate to have our lou sang at the Oversea Restaurant at Subang Parade. We ordered the Pear Yee Sang + Jelly Fish. This is my second lou sang for this year. For more details about our outing that night, refer to Faye's blog. Too bad Popo, Oi Lan and Sabrina couldn't join us for this wonderful night as it was really a last minute plan, we can always plan for another toss during the CNY.

Today, after work, LKC picked me up from the Kelana Jaya LRT station. We went to Lucky Seafood Restaurant at Seapark to have our dinner. We never planned to order the yee sang today, but when I saw the yee sang "stall" at the restaurant and seeing people tossing the yee sang, my craving for the yee sang "triggered". We ordered a small yee sang with other dishes for our dinner.

It was too much for the two of us and it was actually quite difficult to mix the ingredients together where only two pairs of chopsticks tossing it. We couldn't finish the lou sang and ta-pau the yee sang back home. It's gonna be my brunch for tomorrow, I guess. More yee sang meals to come during the Chinese New Year.

1901 HotDogs

1901 Snack Cafe @ The Curve

We were totally out of idea on where to makan at The Curve. We have tried almost all the restaurants there. The nice one...visited more than hundred times (eg. Sakae Sushi, TGI Fridays, Dragon I, Kim Gary). The not so nice one and the expensive one...visited one time is more than enough (eg. Thai Express, Ah Tuan Ee's Place, Movenpick Marche, Nanxiang Steamed Bun, Shilla Korean Buffet, Italliannies, Vivo American Pizza and Panini and etc). The 1901 Hotdog located at a quite isolated corner. Well, not so isolated actually. It's just that we never noticed it only...hahaha.

We ordered two set meals...medium for me and large for LKC. The set meal came with the hotdog, of course, a cup of drink and mashed potato. LKC changed the mashed potato to french fries for an additional of RM1.00 (if I'm not mistaken).

I always thought that when you order a large set meal, the only difference from the medium set meal is on the drink and fries. The burger/sandwich size is the same for medium or large set. I was surprised to see that the large Coney Dog set meal that LKC ordered came with a large Coney Dog Beef. I ordered Texas Ted Chicken

Sate Kajang Hj. Samuri

Where would you think of when you think of satay? Kajang of course. Well, you don't need to travel too far as the famous Sate Kajang Haji Samuri has outlets almost everywhere in the Klang valley. When LKC was staying at USJ 4-5 years back, it just meant driving towards the Taipan, USJ outlet to have this one of the most wonderful Malaysian food. For now, we just need to drive to the outlet at Damansara Uptown (the row opposite Subway, or the row behind the Maybank).

Sate Kajang Haji Samuri is a famous Sate Kajang fast-food restaurant chain in Malaysia (according to Wikipedia, and I think so too!).

They serve various type of satays like ayam, daging, perut, ikan and hati at RM0.60 per stick, kambing at RM0.90 per stick, rusa at RM1.30 per stick and arnab at RM1.60 per stick. Besides that, they also serve other side dishes like ketupat and nasi impit.

As usual, the satays are served with side dishes like cucumber and onion to reduce the heat in your body after having the bbq meat. We ordered the common satays like the chicken satay and beef satays. Additionally we ordered the perut satays as well (LKC's fave).

Apart from the main course (yes, we have to treat the satays as the main course), we also ordered nasi goreng kampung and also meehoon goreng. The satays itself already made us very full together with the nasi goreng and meehoon goreng.

Their side dishes (i.e. nasi goreng kampung and meehoon goreng) tasted so-so only. We shall just order the satays only the next time we go there again.

Teow Chew Meng Restaurant

It was my 3rd or 4th time visiting this restaurant after reading the review of this restaurant in KYSpeaks. We found the food served here was very yummy, but not until our last visit which was few weeks back. It was our first time visiting this restaurant for dinner. We went there for lunch for the past few visits. Nope...they do not have different menu for lunch and dinner. They only serve few types of main course like mee sua tow, seafood porridge and tom yam noodles. As for the side dishes, they serve octopus, mango kerabu, oyster, vegetables, seafood fried rice, seafood roll and a few more. As usual, we ordered mee sua tow for 1 person (RM10 per pax), tom yam seafood noodle for 1 person (RM10 per pax also) and vegetable (RM10).

The mee sua tow was topped with some 'fake' shark fin together with fish maw, crab sticks, prawn, octopus, fish and squid. It is best eaten with Chinese black vinegar and a little bit of sambal belacan.

The tom yam soup was made with ingredients like tomato, crab sticks, prawns, fried fish, squid, octopus, fishball and of course the noodle.

We enjoyed their mee sua tow very much. It was a must-to-order dish everytime we visited this restaurant. But after our last visit, I guess we will not be visiting this restaurant anymore as their quality has dropped. The mee sua tow tasted not as nice as our previous visits. The tom yam was kinda tasteless...maybe because they had added more water to the tom yam soup since they open from morning till night.

If you feel like trying it, then I would suggest to go in the afternoon for brunch/ lunch like our previous visits. Maybe the seafood is still fresh in the afternoon and that makes the food tastes better. Teow Chew Meng Restaurant is situated at SS2, same row as the Lobster Man. They have branches in SS15, Subang Jaya and Aman Suria.

Me, a desperado?

Since yesterday a public holiday for both LKC and myself, we decided to go jalan-jalan at 1-Utama to do some CNY shopping. As always, I'm a very kay-poh girl. Whenever there is a roadshow, for sure I will drop by to have a look. There is this roadshow by Love Vision Bridal House at the lower ground floor and I had a glimpse on their photo album while coming down from the escalator at the Hang Ten there and it looked quite attractive to me.

At first, I was walking towards the photo album with LKC and this sales representative came over to have a chat with us, with me basically. After a while, LKC walked away to get some drinks. I was still standing at their booth there and browsing through the photo album. Just pretending that I was interested to find out more about the packages that they offer, I asked about their offer and what is included in the package. Before I had more time to flip through the album, there was another sales representative came over. Still pretending that I was very interested to find out more, I asked about the photos in the album, whether it was taken indoor or outdoor, how many pieces of gowns are included, make-up, the price...blah blah blah.

Then this 2nd sales representative told me to have a sit in order to discuss further. I knew I couldn't escape if I were to sit down there. So I told them that my boyfriend had just walked away. I need to get him here to discuss together. Then this 2nd sales representative was so shocked. She said..."Har...your boyfriend walks away when he sees you looking at the photo album arr!!??"

WTF...she sounded like I'm so desperate to get married until the boyfriend also afraid already... upset...upset...upset!!!
